Welcome to the Richmond Park Marathon website where you will find important information About Us , the race itself, its Organisers, the Route, Contact details and some excellent images of the course route taken on recent runs. We would also like to thank everyone returning back to our event from 2011 which has been awarded by Runners World Magazine as the UK’s best new race on the calendar, so a massive thank you to all those involved and we hope the 2012 is as much fun , and more successful for everyone in our Olympic year 2012. Once again we will have superb medical support from St John’s Ambulance crews backed up with excellent communications from the Surrey RAYNET team – so we will be looking after everyone right throughout the day. Our race is a MULTI TERRAIN event – you will be running on grass,trail paths and private roads throughout our event – we hope you enjoy the route where you will see some of London’s most spectacular views and simply relax and enjoy running in the largest Royal Park in the capital. Our celebrated race photographer Rich Kennington (The Race Photographer) will be here once again to capture images of you all – and a link will be sent to all runners once our chip timed results have been published on the Sunday 20th May 2012. We will be supporting the Get Kids Going and would like to encourage as many of you to raise monies for this great charity which helps young disabled children and adults into sport – and its amazing the achievements so please go to their site www.getkidsgoing.com So we look forward to seeing everyone at the start area near Sheen Gate car park , we’ll give everyone a quick race de-brief and the course will be clearly marked out with signs and marshals to ensure your event is safe , challenging and rewarding . Weather forecast for Sunday 20th May 2012 – Sunshine / Cloud / Showers ; temp Low 9C to high 15C – so you may need to bring both sun protection and rain protection over to Richmond this Sunday – otherwise perfect conditions. The trails are firm , so normal running shoes or trail shoes will be fine. You main want to bring a bin liner to keep you warm at the start in the event of any showers – once you get running you will warm up ! Results for RPM 2012 – and feed back link Congratulations to all runners who completed the 3 lap circuit of the Richmond Park Marathon – it was fantastic to see a lot of last years runners back to today , but also to welcome a lot of new friends and faces to our special event ! All our results should be on the site by Monday 21st May. The winning top 3 Men/Women times below – and these are actually more impressive. as the actual course distance is more like 26.4 miles long – as measured by some garmin watches . thing running a marathon on a flat course, but adding hills in to the
challenge makes it really tough! Hopefully being in one of the most
beautiful parks in the country will take your mind of those hills and help
